چکیده

The use of microcantilever arrays for microbial growth detection provides a rapid and reliable technique for monitoring growth in industrial and clinical applications. Improving the reproducibility and sensitivity of this technique is of great importance. Ink-jet printing has been successfully used in microfabrication and biofabrication due to its high precision; however, only a few microbe-based applications have been reported. Here we demonstrate the advantages of its use for microcantilever based-growth sensing. Four microbial strains Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus subsp. aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, andCandida albicans were deposited and successfully grown on agarose-coated cantilevers by ink-jet printing. When compared to the capillary-coating method, ink-jet printing demonstrated more controlled cell deposition on cantilevers. The effect of various conditions on cell morphology was also investigated.

Ink-Jet Printing Cotton with Cationic Reactive Dye Based Inks

The current commercial application of ink-jet reactive inks to cotton fabrics has been through pre-treating with pad liquor prior to printing. In This study made an effort to provide a single phase ink-jet printing process for printing cotton fabric using the novel cationic reactive dye in ink’s formulation. Cotton fabric was printed upon with the novel cationic reactive dye and commercial anio...

The Effect of Reactive Dye Structure on the Ink-Jet Printing of Cotton

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the structure of reactive dye on cotton ink-jet printing. Cotton fabric was printed upon with three commercial cellulosic reactive dyes which are based on the similar chromophore and possess different numbers of reactive and anionic groups. Colour yield and absorbed dye fixation of the printed cotton were evaluated at various pHs. The i...

Ink-Jet Printing of Gluconobacter oxydans: Micropatterned Coatings As High Surface-to-Volume Ratio Bio-Reactive Coatings

We formulated a latex ink for ink-jet deposition of viable Gram-negative bacterium Gluconobacter oxydans as a model adhesive, thin, highly bio-reactive microstructured microbial coating. Control of G. oxydans latex-based ink viscosity by dilution with water allowed ink-jet piezoelectric droplet deposition of 30 × 30 arrays of two or three droplets/dot microstructures on a polyester substrate. P...
